Nothing Helps Me Relax More Than Fishing.
Here is a look as to when some Ponds in the Treasure Valley will be stocked.
Gone Fishin’
Hey guys, as we know summer is already here and like always we are trying to find things to do with the family for recreational purposes. The summer always has a lot to offer, especially in the Treasure Valley. We are always tasked with the question of what to do? As always the summer always says one thing to me, fishing! Fishing has always been a great escape for me to get away from the (now busy) community that Boise has grown to be. Fishing helps relieve myself of stress and to just enjoy the beautiful surroundings we are blessed with. With winter gone now is the time to break out those fishing poles and take advantage of what the ponds, lakes, and rivers have to offer. A couple places that come into mind when I think of great spots to fish is the Snake River and the Boise River. Specifically Eagle road under the bridge and Map Rock in Marsing on the Snake River. Usually when I fish on the Boise River, I mainly focus on rainbow trout. I typically use an ultra light pole for feel with about a 12 inch lead and 2-2 ounce weights. I find using night crawler worms works best for me when trout fishing, but with all fisherman, everyone has the go-to baits and lures they prefer. When I’m on the Snake River fishing for the “Hog” (catfish) of the night, I find that chicken liver is my favorite form of bait for catfish. Using chicken liver can be a little tricky to work with so what I like to do is set the chicken liver out for a couple hours in the sun to firm up so its easier to string on the hook. Knowing where to fish can always be a hassle, so I’v compiled a short list of places I enjoy fishing that has recently been stocked. Information Provided by Idaho Fish & Game.
